An inside look: Volunteering at No More Empty Pots

Last week I spent an afternoon volunteering at No More Empty Pots for the first time. My review? This is a 10 out of 10, must try opportunity!

The mission of No More Empty Pots is to connect individuals and groups to improve self-sufficiency, regional food security and economic resilience of urban and rural communities through advocacy and action. They support communities in becoming self-sufficient and food secure through a systems approach to solutions.

When you volunteer to help with the Community Harvest program, as I did, you’re helping prepare affordable local food for our community. During my time at No More Empty Pots, I helped to package Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) boxes. This food distribution program supports local producers while providing nutrient-dense produce to individuals and families. Let me tell you, the lion’s mane mushrooms included in last week’s CSA box looked spectacular!

Take less than a minute to hear from Jasmine about what you’ll do while you volunteer:

If you want an inside look at No More Empty Pots’ impactful programs, I highly recommend you schedule some time to volunteer now.

In addition to volunteerism, No More Empty Pots’ work would not be possible without financial supporters. In 2022 givers made all of this possible:

  • 12,533 Meals distributed to families and individuals.
  • 4,666 CSA Boxes distributed to families and individuals.
  • 94% of Food was sourced locally from 23+ local producers.
  • 1,031 Program Hours of gardening, culinary, STEAM and nutrition education.
  • 55 Businesses received supported and connected to a network of resources.
  • 13 Students graduated from the Culinary Certificate Program.
  • 39 Zip Codes impacted in eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa.
  • 5 Women graduated from the Leadership Program.

You’re invited to join in this work and give a gift now.
