Credit Advisors Foundation

Sam Hohman of Credit Advisors Foundation shares, "Overall, Credit Advisors Foundation plays a vital role in improving the metro area by empowering individuals with financial education, offering debt management services, promoting community outreach, and advocating for positive change in financial policies and practices."

Donating to nonprofits addressing financial crises is crucial for several reasons:

1. Supporting All Populations: While Financial crises can impact all socio-economic groups, it disproportionately impacts vulnerable populations such as low-income families, the unemployed, and marginalized communities. Nonprofits, such as Credit Advisors Foundation, specialize in serving all groups, ensuring they receive strong financial counseling during times of financial hardship.

2. Preventing Long-Term Consequences: Financial crises can have long-lasting effects on individuals and communities, including increased poverty, homelessness, and health problems. By donating to nonprofits, you can help mitigate these consequences and support efforts to rebuild and stabilize affected communities.

3. Promoting Economic Recovery: Nonprofits play a vital role in promoting economic recovery by providing counseling and assistance to individuals struggling in the aftermath of a crisis. Donations contribute to programs that facilitate debt management, credit and asset building, and saving plans aimed at restoring economic stability and ensuring economic inclusion.

4. Fostering Resilience: Investing in nonprofits addressing financial crises helps build resilience within communities, equipping them with the resources and support needed to withstand future challenges. By supporting these organizations, you contribute to the development of stronger, more resilient societies.

Overall, donating to nonprofits addressing financial crises is an investment in the well-being of individuals and communities, helping to alleviate immediate suffering, prevent long-term consequences, and foster resilience in the face of adversity

"Credit Advisors Foundation needs your referrals. Financial problems are not easy and people are often embarrassed to discuss money issues. By referring individuals to us, you are making it easier for them to seek help," says Sam.

Angels Among Us

Angels Among Us

Alyssa Geodeken of Angels Among Us shares, "It is important to give to nonprofits like Angels Among Us who help address financial crisis because the pediatric cancer families we serve that are experiencing a difficult financial burden are also navigating their child’s cancer journey. When a child is diagnosed bills don’t stop. Angels Among Us is able to step in and help with a critical payment so families can focus on what matters most—their sick child."

Angels Among Us makes the metro a better place because pediatric cancer families know that they don’t fight alone. Not only will we walk alongside them financially during their child’s entire treatment journey, but we will emotionally support them throughout and after they come out on the other side of treatment. We provide wrap around services for all members of the family because cancer affects everyone.

"We need our community to rally behind our families by giving and allowing us to continue to address their financial crisis. This year Angels Among Us increased its financial assistance by 10% so families can receive more financial relief from us while their child is battling cancer. This comes at a cost, and we are working tirelessly to be sure we can best serve families, especially among the rising costs of life," says Alyssa.

Housing Foundation for Sarpy County

Sarah Hall of Housing Foundation for Sarpy County shares, "The cycle of poverty is one of the most difficult patterns to break and for families to recover from.  Whether it is a generational thing or a change in life dynamics, those in poverty are almost guaranteed to remain in that state unless positive elements can be brought to them.  Resources brought to them by the nonprofit community can allow those are less fortunate to access essential funds, life skills, networks, and more that are proven to bring success."

The Housing Foundation for Sarpy County works on multiple levels to address the affordable housing crisis in our area.  They advocate for new developments to add affordable units in Sarpy County and for those that are need of quality, affordable housing.  The organization works with clients of Bellevue Housing Agency that are Section 8 voucher holders to find a life of self-sufficiency and no longer rely upon government aid.

Housing Foundation for Sarpy County is in need of "transportation funds (gas gift cards), donations for sports scholarships, donations for shoes (we partner with Famous Footwear to provide gift cards to school age children going back to school) and gift cards to local businesses, new and gently used designer handbags, and sponsorships (for our largest auction fundraiser, Bags and Swag)," says Sarah.
