Even though we’re starting to see the light at the end of this pandemic tunnel, we still face a lot of challenges as a community. It’s natural to feel a mix of emotions, and to feel a little bit overwhelmed as we confront a lot of big, societal issues.
We have good news.
Do Good Week is ALMOST here.
From April 19-24 everyone can participate. We mean it: everyone is encouraged to do some good, from toddlers to centenarians. Absolutely everyone has something to give. Everyone can help someone else. Everyone can help our community move forward.
What if we all decided to do something good for our community every day, giving bits of joy, for an entire week? The whole Omaha metro would feel the impact.
Each day of Do Good Week has a theme, and we’re suggesting ways to be involved and connected to each.
The Number One Way to Do Good
If you are able to make donations, this is the number one thing nonprofits need right now. Many are struggling to...
April 9th, 2021 - This blog is guest-written by Bill Roberts, President of Fricke Episcopal Food Ministry Board of Directors
The Fricke Episcopal Food Ministry is a different kind of nonprofit.
We aren’t a food bank, food pantry or preparer of foods – we’re a fundraiser for those kinds of nonprofits. We make feeding the hungry easier. Because we make Food Security Grants that must be spent entirely on food for the needy, our supporters can be sure that our grants pay for food and only food.
We thought up a fun game to promote our work – the Virtual Scavenger Hunt.
It starts April 20, New Donor Tuesday, on our website at frickeministry.org. Anyone can play – no need to donate. We give you seven questions about our nonprofit partners, and you can find the answers on each partner’s website, which is provided with each question. Submit your answers between 8 a.m. April 20 and 5 p.m. April 22. You’ll get to know our partners and all the good they do.
We’ll pick five winners at random...

Do Good Week is coming up starting April 19, and we’re about to find out the answer to the question, “What if we thought about all the different ways we can Do Good…for a whole week?”
During this week of giving back, you’re encouraged to do good every day for local causes, in your own way. But if you need some ideas, each day has a theme that can get your creative (and generous) juices flowing:
Monday, April 19: Mission Monday – Think about the big causes that matter to you and what values you hold most dear. Reflect on important moments in your life and the experiences of your loved ones.
What organizations are furthering these causes?
Which nonprofits share your values?
Maybe there is an organization that helped you or a loved one during an important time in your life. Make a point of spreading the word about their good work on Mission Monday.
Tuesday, April 20: New Donor Tuesday – Go on a little scavenger hunt today. Find an organization that has never heard from you...
