#GivingTuesday402 stays strong, thanks to you!
Though there have been changes in giving patterns this year, Giving Tuesday stays strong for local giving!
Early giving through SHAREomaha.org was up, over 10,000 people explored the website on Giving Tuesday and almost one in four gifts were from new donors. Reports of direct-to-nonprofit giving are still coming in and we are thrilled to share that the greater Omaha metro, including Western Iowa givers using SHAREiowa.org, raised over $4.3 million for vital local nonprofits to continue their important work.
“We see that how and when people give is changing. SHARE Omaha’s focus is year-round, in addition to this big day of giving. SHARE Omaha is so grateful for the generosity of our community. Giving Tuesday in the metro, including Iowa, has surpassed the $4 million mark, about the same as last year, and it was a boost for many nonprofits,” says Teresa Mardesen, executive director.
Giving through SHAREomaha.org started in 2019. Prior to SHARE Omaha leading the local effort, our community raised approximately $820,000 for Giving Tuesday 2018 and hit an all-time high of $5.49 million in 2021.
“The beauty of the SHARE Omaha platform is that people can give to nonprofits in one place all year long with #GivingEveryTuesday, or any day of the week. We understand the pressure on budgets at the holidays so SHAREomaha.org allows our community to give year-around when it fits their timing and their budget,” Mardesen explains.
In a recent survey by SHARE Omaha more than 80% of responding local nonprofits said that they need fewer than 200 new gifts of $100 to help them meet their fundraising goals. When using SHAREomaha.org to find the nonprofit your choice, your donation goes straight to the nonprofit and SHARE Omaha does not charge a fee to givers or nonprofits.
Over 650 nonprofits provide information about how to donate, items on their wish list and how to volunteer at SHAREomaha.org. The information about nonprofits is available 365 days a year so donors can explore where they want to give and then lift up the organizations they choose. Each week, SHARE Omaha uplifts a cause area for your support using #GivingEveryTuesday at SHAREomaha.org
Giving Tuesday in the metro was powered by SHARE Omaha. The campaign’s Collective Impact Lead Sponsors for #Giving Tuesday402 were Medical Solutions and CQuence Health along with supporting sponsors Farm Credit Services of America and Kiewit Corporation.
