#GivingEveryTuesday: Leadership

Each Tuesday, SHARE Omaha features a unique cause theme for #GivingEveryTuesday and encourages our community to give and support in any way we can! This week's #GivingEveryTuesday theme is Leadership. Hear about nonprofits who are cultivating leaders and help fund their work!

Project Extra Mile

Chris Wagner of Project Extra Mile shares, "Nonprofits that offer leadership programs to the community are critically important in seeding the change that is often so desperately needed to address inequities and achieve social justice."

Project Extra Mile is working with the next generation of leaders in the Omaha metro area and across our state to help them understand the power of their voice and how to engage decision makers. Our youth are currently advocating for innovate policy changes to prevent alcohol-related tragedies across the state.

"Donations will help us support and expand our reach to young leaders. Some of the expenses associated with this engagement require the use of non-grant funds. Examples include food and drink for monthly youth leadership meetings and the annual youth leadership retreat, supporting our college scholarship fund, engagement prizes, year-end awards, etc. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated," says Chris.

GROW Nebraska Women's Business Center

Nekola Distefano of GROW Nebraska Women's Business Center shares, "We all need to support our community becoming bolder and brighter.  Individuals that focus on becoming stronger leaders will ultimately pull others up with them."

GROW Nebraska Women's Business Center supports small businesses and entrepreneurs to reach their dreams and goals one step at a time.  Their great ideas sometimes need guidance and support along the way and that’s where GROW Nebraska Women's Business Center steps in to help educate and connect them to the resources they require to develop and grow their business.

"We can always use teachers, advocates and resource agents that are able and willing to give of their time and talents. Education is paramount when beginning a small business, there are many obstacles to navigate.  It can be a challenging adventure that will be made easier with guidance and support," says Nekola.

Banisters Leadership Academy

Banisters Leadership Academy

J'Lynne Johnson of Banisters Leadership Academy shares, "Donating to nonprofits that offer leadership programs is important as it helps cultivate the next generation of leaders who will shape our future. Our programs provide valuable skills and opportunities for children to develop their leadership abilities and contribute positively to their communities. By supporting these programs, we are investing in the potential of our youth and ensuring that they have the resources and guidance they need to succeed."

Banisters Leadership Academy is transforming the metro by offering a life changing program to youth during at risk hours, promoting healthy community initiatives for all, and empowering families to thrive through leadership development.

"As a statewide organization, we rely on the support of volunteers and funding to maintain our programs. Your contribution towards food, marketing, and day-to-day sustainability funds is crucial for our success," says J'Lynne.

Launch Leadership

Launch Leadership

Jessica Applegate of Launch Leadership shares, "We believe that anyone can become a leader in their community, but not everyone can see their leadership potential. Our leadership development services are designed to help young people discover and believe in their ability to make the world around them a better place. Positive change starts with a leader who believes change is possible, and that's why it's so important to invest in leadership development programs."

Launch Leadership provides leadership development services to hundreds of local students every year. They serve students representing more than 30 schools in the Omaha area last year alone! That's over 30 communities who will feel the positive effects of being home to young people who recognize their own leadership potential and appreciate the potential of those around them.

"One opportunity for the Omaha community to support Launch's mission is to help students attend our June Summer Leadership Workshop. All spots at our July Summer Leadership Workshop are full, but there are still a few spots remaining at our five-day, four-night Workshop starting June 18th on Doane University's campus in Crete, NE. Our Workshop is open to students who will be entering grades 6-12 in the fall, and we need help reaching students who haven't heard of this opportunity. You can find the online registration form at launchleadership.org, and members of this community may work directly with our Registration Team to register a group of students at a special discounted rate. Email the Team at registration@launchleadership.org to learn more," says Jessica.
