Why do I LOVE nonprofits? Oh my goodness, so many reasons.
First, it always connects me to my mom. From a very young age, she embedded in me a sense of connecting with others who were different than myself, and giving back when possible. If my memory serves me, and I was pretty darned young, we'd pile into her blue or brown Ford Pinto and head to grab our once-a-week asignment of meals on wheels and we would make our rounds. I'm sure I was cuter as a youngster than I am at 40, but I remember so fondly my connection with those in need. Most were so grateful to see us and as I've grown, I've learned more about food security and how important it is for us to take care of each other.
Have a roaring good time while volunteering for Omaha Home for Boys! Sign up now.
Omaha Home for Boys is celebrating a century of service by taking it back to the Roaring 20s when it all began! Grab your glad rags and sign up to volunteer for the 100 Year Anniversary Celebration. It's a festive evening complete with 1920s themed cocktails and costumes, live music from The Diamond Empire Band, a speakeasy, casino games, a photo booth, a Model-T, dinner, auction and more. It’s going to be the bee’s knees!
The event will be held at the Embassy Suites in LaVista on November 8, 2019, and a number of volunteer opportunities are available for both individuals and small groups. Dinner will be provided for all volunteers.
Assistance League® of Omaha’s Operation School Bell® is a program that offers over 4,000 children the opportunity to shop for new clothing at JCPenney at Westroads Mall. Research shows that when children feel good about what they are wearing, attendance and grades improve.
This effort wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of 450 volunteers. Many parents say they appreciate the kind and welcoming Assistance League of Omaha volunteers.
Get in the Fall spirit and warm your heart with these easy volunteer opportunities in the Omaha metro.
