Stories
Some call it stories. Others call it a blog. But here you will find nuggets of goodness to use and -- you guessed it -- SHARE!
Volunteer Voices: Jennifer, CQuence Health volunteer for Ronald McDonald House
Earlier this month, we heard from CQuence Health CEO Mike Cassling about their investment in community impact. One of the ways the company invests is by offering volunteer time off (VTO) as a key benefit for CQuence Health employees.
We wanted to hear more. How is this VTO benefit being used by CQuence Health employees?
A 5-year-old's thoughts about volunteering and helping others
A 5-year-old spent two hours volunteering at Open Door Mission, sorting toys and restocking shelves. These are the thoughts he shared on the drive home, about volunteering and helping others:
Shop for Good: NAMI Omaha
NAMI Omaha is the local National Alliance on Mental Illness affiliate which provides education, support and advocacy to consumer, family members and friends in the Cass, Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy, and Washington counties in Nebraska. They offer free support groups and education for persons with mental health challenges and for their family and friends, and educational events.
This episode of #ShopforGood, presented by Wells Fargo, shares how gift cards support NAMI Omaha programs.
Coffee Chat: What's Your Why?
During our October nonprofit gathering we asked nonprofit attendees to tell us, "What's your why?"
Volunteer Voices: Lachelle, Project Harmony
Project Harmony is the resource for child abuse services and training in the Omaha metro area and surrounding communities. They help community members protect and support the most vulnerable among us - restoring courage, facilitating healing and empowering community members to be someone in the life of a child.
We asked Project Harmony to tell us about a superstar volunteer and we heard all about Lachelle. Naturally, we had to hear from Lachelle why she is so giving of her time!
Guest blog: CQuence Health Invests in Community Impact in Omaha and Beyond
This blog is guest-written by Mike Cassling, CEO of CQuence Health
I want to share a few thoughts about why CQuence Health is enthusiastic about being a Collective Impact Lead Sponsor for SHARE Omaha’s Giving Tuesday.
Guest blog: It Takes Heart
This blog is guest written by Kim Kanellis, communications coordinator for The Foster Kitten Project.
Often, the word “rescue” is used to express the act of accepting an animal into care for the purpose of protecting and caring for that animal until a permanent adoptive home can be found, but we don’t commonly talk about the “hearts” that are associated with these acts. So far in 2023, the “hearts” behind The Foster Kitten Project have helped almost 200 kittens, but what does this mean?
Giving Tuesday demonstrates the metro's philanthropy
WHO: SHARE Omaha is preparing for the year’s biggest day of philanthropy locally and across the globe. Giving Tuesday, the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, is recognized as the day to give back and support the greater Omaha metro community’s nonprofits.
WHAT: Giving Tuesday in the greater Omaha metro is the biggest, local giving day of the year. The annual event, which takes place globally the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, is recognized as the day to give back and support local community nonprofits.
Guest blog: Women and girls deserve better than 1.9%
This blog is guest written by Jo Giles, executive director of the Women’s Fund of Omaha
This fact should make you sit up and pay attention—only 1.9% of charitable giving goes to nonprofits focused on issues impacting women and girls.
Teresa Mardesen recognized with Women’s Legacy Award
SHARE Omaha’s executive director Teresa Mardesen is being awarded the 2023 “Women’s Legacy Award” by Women on a Mission for Change, an organization dedicated to supporting women and girls through partnership and mentoring.
