***COVID-19 UPDATE:***

We looking forward to having you in to volunteer with us and wanted to provide some information on ways that Food Bank for the Heartland is helping to “flatten the curve,” while still achieving our mission.

Masks: Changing Guidelines

As advisories continue to change, we would like to address any concerns regarding Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Due to the strain on the supply chain, Food Bank for the Heartland is NOT able to provide face masks for volunteers. Therefore, while it is not required, we highly encourage anyone coming in to volunteer with us to wear a face mask of some type if you have one, including those made of cloth from home.

The Food Bank for the Heartland Volunteer Center Is cleaned and sanitized prior to every shift.

Doing your part as a volunteer during the COVID-19 Crisis:

Food Bank for the Heartland Volunteer Center:

-Is encouraging all volunteers to practice safe social distances from everyone when engaging in volunteer activities
-Is requiring that all staff and volunteers wash their hands before the volunteer shift.
-Is having its Volunteer Coordinator sign all volunteers in for their shift to limit contact with our sign in computers.

What we ask of our volunteers before your shift begins:

-If you are feeling sick or exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19 we ask that you respectfully decline volunteering until you are symptom free.
-If you have traveled to any area that has been known to be at high risk of transmission in the last 2 weeks to decline volunteering at this time.
-If you live with or are visiting any person that is immuno-compromised or known to be at high risk of contracting the coronavirus, to reconsider volunteering at this time for the health and safety of those individuals.

Thank you for your interest in helping us fight hunger in this challenging time. We appreciate you.
