Assist a teacher and small groups of students to guide them through the research process to prepare for presenting their findings at the Metropolitan Science and Engineering Fair. Mentorship ranges from one who can provide access to research facilities and equipment to one who has a passion and knowledge for supporting curiosity and communication. Mentors will be paired with teachers requesting support, with dates and times arranged by the participants. Mentors are responsible for completing permissions required by the school when working with students. General timeline (Volunteer supports one or all of these tasks): Summer and/or Fall: Assist teacher and/or students to develop research topic(s); students complete Forms 1, 1A, & Research Plan. Conduct research. January: Support student(s) in composing abstract. Student(s) register for MSEF. February: Support student(s) in completing Research Report & fair display; provide feedback during practice presentation to judges
