As an OFF Theatre Captain you will be assigned to one of three theatres for the entire run of the festival (Wednesday through Sunday). The main function of this role is to be the full-time eyes and ears in a particular screen

Responsibilities include:
- act as direct liaison for attending filmmaker to communicate audio, aspect ratio, etc. issues
- communicating any tech issues that arise with films
- communicating with door personnel regarding theatre readiness (lights on after previous screening, patrons cleared, ad reel up and running, etc.)
- Communicating with projectionists who are responsible for getting content on screen (ad reels and films)
- audio levels correct (too loud, too quiet, etc.)
- curtains in the correct position (flat or scope)
- onscreen content is correct (ad reel during pre-roll and Q&As)
- lights on/lights out
- microphones on/off
- communicating with festival directors on timing
- work with filmmaker, festival director, and filmmaker liaison if a screentest is desired by a filmmaker
- report any issues and ultimately provide the best festival experience for our guests
- direct line to festival directors who do intros and Q&A
Reserved theatre captain sign will be placed on your chair or designated space during the festival run so you may leave your seat unattended and your seat will not be taken by a festival attendee.
When you are ready for bathroom or meal break, notify Volunteer Coordinator over walkies and someone will break you...it is ok for food and drink to be taken into the theatre from the volunteer room as your primary role is within the theatre.
One important thing to note, you will not be on your own. The festival directors, the leadership team, projectionists, theatre personnel, and other volunteers will be there to assist.
