Companion of Hope Volunteer 

Are you looking for meaningful ways to support individuals and families impacted by cancer in your community? NCS HOPE Foundation partners with area oncology and hematology facilities to provide critical financial assistance to patients undergoing treatment. Now, we invite you to get even more involved!

Description

A volunteer’s role is to provide comfort, care, and support to patients and their families by assisting staff during their infusion treatments. Volunteers may bring refreshments to patients, provide blankets, or just a friendly, listening ear. This position requires a weekly, long-term commitment.

Requirements

  • Agree to a background check, health screening, and drug test provided at no cost to volunteer
  • Exhibit a patient, resourceful and friendly demeanor
  • Capable of working with a diverse group of people
  • Adhere to standards of quality, patient satisfaction and ethics
  • Be available for at least 12 hours per month minimum for a 12-month period
  • Be dependable and dedicated to fulfilling volunteer obligation
  • Communicate to the volunteer coordinator as soon as possible regarding an absence
  • Be able to walk and stand for extended periods

Training

  • HIPPA and Privacy Rules training
  • Environmental and Safety training
