Volunteers Assisting Seniors

Trained Medicare Counselor--provide unbiased Medicare education for those eligible for Medicare.  

• Flexible schedule--will be expected to volunteer at least one day per week during Medicare Annual Open Enrollment (October 15-December 7).
• Will receive training from SHIP (State Health Insurance Assistance Program) to learn about Medicare and be able to provide information to clients and from Nebraska SHIP/SMP.  This will be done at your own pace.
• Will be mentored by a trained volunteer before counseling on your own, but you will always have support.
• Must attend additional training each year to stay certified.

Requirements:

• Need great personal skills and some knowledge of Insurance.
• Will need to pass a background check.
• Some computer skills needed--basic use of the internet only.
• No licensed Insurance agents.
