A proud affiliate of National Urban League, a historic nonprofit forged in an era when Black Americans still lacked basic Civil Rights, the mission of Urban League of Nebraska (ULN) is to be an empowering voice in the community, advocating for economic self-reliance, parity, power, civil rights, and equal opportunity for all.
The North Omaha community we serve has far greater exposure to food insecurity, unemployment, violence, and other adverse outcomes, and far less access to affordable housing, health care, and mental health services, than residents of Omaha as a whole. For nearly 100 years, ULN has been serving and advocating for Omahans affected by these inequities. Its programs – from scholarship and college planning, to career readiness workshops, school-based truancy programs, and referrals to social services – now impact more than 8,000 Omahans per year.
