WE ARE MORE THAN OUR NAME!
United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of Nebraska was founded in 1954 by parents of children with cerebral palsy and although we have grown into serving individuals with a wide variety of disabilities, our vision remains the same, to help people with disabilities live a life without limits.
MISSION: United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of Nebraska's mission is to be the indispensable resource for individuals with cerebral palsy and similar disabilities, their families, and their communities.
Our life-changing programs include:
Client Assistance Grants: Offers limited grants to qualified families and individuals with disabilities to promote independence and encourage empowerment. This grant program helps with things such as purchasing adaptive equipment, removing barriers in the home, enhancement of mobility and providing scholarships for special programs like summer camp, sports programs and training.
Go Baby Go: Provides modified, ride-on-cars for free to young children, approximately 9 months to 6 years with special needs who experience limited mobility. An initiative started at the University of Delaware by Cole Galloway to provide opportunities for early independent movement, socialization, and overall skill development for children with mobility limitations.
Family Focus: Family Focus is a series of events throughout the year designed to bring families facing similar challenges together and provide the opportunity to draw strength and knowledge, as well as relax and socialize. Information and Referral: Information and referral is available for individuals with disabilities, their family, professionals and advocates throughout Nebraska.
Tech Tools, A Developmental Technology Library: Our lending libraries are located statewide and offer a wide variety of adaptive technology and communication devices for all ages and abilities. The items are available for "check out" at no cost for up to four weeks. The libraries are open to families, professionals and other care providers to increase independence at home, school, work or in the community.
We are proud to be a beacon of hope and support for individuals with cerebral palsy and similar disabilities and YOU can join us!
