Together was founded in 1975 to provide relief after a devastating tornado hit the Omaha area, and we continue to serve those experiencing food insecurity, poverty, and homelessness in our community.
Together works to ensure that each and every one of our neighbors has access to a safe, affordable home and healthy food. We address immediate needs while serving as a catalyst for changing our community's response to end hunger and homelessness at a systemic level.
Our programs:
NOURISH PROGRAM increases food access by offering two Choice Food Pantries (Omaha and Council Bluffs) where community members can pick out their own food, just like a grocery store. The choice food pantry is a free service to any individual experiencing food insecurity. Through a collaboration with donors, grants, and community partners, the Choice Food Pantry is replenished daily with fresh produce, meats, dairy, and shelf items. Additional services offered are nutrition education and SNAP/WIC registration. Together is an equal opportunity provider.
RAPID REHOUSING PROGRAM focuses on rehousing individuals and families that have been living on the streets, in vehicles, or at emergency shelters. Together works with Metro Area Continuum of Care for the Homeless (MACCH) and local community partners to ensure the goal of housing stability. This is done through intensive 1:1 case management, financial assistance, and resource navigation support. For registration into the Rapid Rehousing Program, an individual or household must be on our community wide que list through the Coordinated Entry Process.
HOUSING STABILITY CLINIC provides a single point of contact for people facing a housing crisis to obtain rental and utility assistance, obtain state-issued IDs, and obtain a variety of wraparound services from Together and community partners. This streamlines participants' experience and helps them obtain the assistance they need to retain or obtain housing more efficiently and with less stress.
ADVOCACY AND POLICY targets systemic barriers to housing, income, and food security by bridging the gap between our neighbors and the capital.
