What We Do

We are more than an after school program!

We promote opportunity for students through intentional afterschool programming that provides education, exposure, and mentorship. The Teen Center was founded in 2007 and is now located inside Burke High School. We collaborate closely to provide critical supports during the school day and after school.

We work to create a space:

where the adults aren’t always the teachers
where expectations and support are high
where we are all contributors and have a vital voice
where we work to be critically conscious and deeply reflective
where sometimes the most important task at hand is searching the toiletry closet for deodorant
where everybody’s hard is different and laughter is the norm
where love is the default

Interesting Info

During first semester (132 days) of 2024, 16,280 hours spent in our after-school program by high school students.
We have our own classroom and office inside the school. In addition, we have a pantry stocked with toiletries, clothing, period products, food and much more.
All four of our staff have a deep history and relationship with the program - all dating back to 2007.
