What We Do

Have you been upset about the ongoing attacks on one of the most vulnerable parts of our community to the point of feeling the need to do something? If so, read on!

River City Gender Alliance (RCGA), an unaligned, Nebraska based 501(c)(3), is an all-volunteer nonprofit that provides peer support, friendship and understanding for transgender, gender non-conforming individuals and their families.  Monthly meetings, social outings and community activities are integral.  RCGA also seeks to further Trans acceptance through education, research support, positive community outreach and social/legal advocacy to improve the lives of transgender and gender-diverse (TGD) individuals both locally and nationwide!

Why does RCGA need your support? It's simple! There’s a 'better way' than banning books and speech, denying sports participation, bathroom usage and healthcare by means of falsehoods, outright lies, and unfounded stereotypes.  In each of the past two years there have been well over 400 pieces of legislation in 22 states ruthlessly attacking the TGD community. These attacks not only fuel an ongoing national crisis involving transphobic violence, but fund the PACs of those creating this chaos. At its 2021-peak, a record 57 Americans were needlessly murdered due to a lack of respect, understanding and awareness of TGD people.

RCGA's 'better way' involves education, visibility and advocacy! That's where our mission to promote transgender acceptance and needing your support is so important. While our peer support mission is fully self-funded by members, our charitable mission of promoting trans acceptance is not. Educational materials and printing are costly. And if RCGA, a small all-volunteer group, is to make a difference we need your help in a unique other way.

During Share OMAHA's Do Good Days, RCGA is looking for volunteers to publicly demonstrate their support by walking with its parade entry in this year's Heartland Pride Parade on July 13th. Each volunteer will be provided with a goodie bag full of assorted items for handout to the public. No experience needed, just a willingness to have FUN!

Interesting Info
