What We Do
Omaha by Design works across the metro to enable and inspire a built environment that unleashes the full potential of its cities and citizens. We do this by convening, educating, advocating, and encouraging engagement in the topics which physically shape the metro. Our work is designed to engage and educate the broader public on the choices available for our city’s future. We leverage our role as the metro’s hub for urban design conversations, where we advocate for a more vibrant, livable city - for all.
Interesting Info
- The organization’s first major accomplishment was the Urban Design Element – a set of comprehensive zoning and development codes adopted by the City of Omaha.
- Through our Art + Infrastructure Project, we have installed 45 public artworks. The most recent is the "Starseeds" mural on Ardent Mills South Omaha location.
- We held the second annual Open Omaha in 2023, which attracted 15,000+ unique site visits across 64 venues with the help of 140+ volunteers.
