Nebraska Appleseed is a nonprofit advocacy organization that fights for justice and opportunity for all Nebraskans. We take a systemic approach to solving complex issues—such as poverty, child welfare, affordable health care, and immigration policy—and we take our work wherever we can do the most good, whether that’s in the courthouse, at the Capitol, or in the community. Our vision is to build a just, vibrant, and inclusive Nebraska where everyone has the rights, resources, and opportunity to thrive.
Nebraska Appleseed works on issues directly impacting Nebraskans in urban and rural communities across the state. We use multiple strategies to advance innovative solutions that uplift our communities. In collaboration with community members and leaders, elected officials, and partner organizations, we strive to solve deeply rooted, interrelated systemic issues in a holistic approach fighting against poverty, discrimination, and reckless indifference in four focus areas: child welfare, economic justice, health care access, and immigrant inclusion and belonging.
- With the community, we listen, engage, and advocate together for change.
- In the courthouse, we fight for people's rights and the fair application of the law.
- At the capitol, we actively engage with policymakers so policy is responsive to community needs.
