What We Do

Mode Shift Omaha advocates for transportation equity that enhances quality of life and opportunities for everyone to live, work, and play. We advocate for walkable and accessible neighborhoods, safe cycling infrastructure, and transit options. We also advocate for missing middle housing, which makes strong transportation options viable. These all can help to retain young people and allow people with mobility challenges and elderly individuals to reside and thrive in our city. With your support we can increase our impact engaging in public policy discussions, influencing decisions about transportation and land use, and monitoring designs and projects.

Interesting Info
  • We are one of the only local nonprofits in the Omaha-area focused on transportation equity, land use implications, and transparency in decision making.
  • We envision a community that isn't dependent on car ownership and sponsor a podcast: Car Free Midwest!
  • Our vision is a city full of ample and accessible sidewalks, protected and connected bike lanes, expanded bus routes, and more transparency in city government!
