What We Do

Midwest Wheaten Rescue is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to rescuing and rehoming dogs in need. We rescue and place Wheatens as well as other dogs regardless of breed. The dogs we rescue come from many backgrounds including backyard breeders, puppy mills, and, most frequently, shelters throughout the Midwest and South that do not have resources or placement options for the dogs in their care. MWR strives to help dogs in so many ways -- from coordinating with shelters to provide transportation to Omaha, to funding all vetting needs (including spay/neuter, vaccinations, medical care), to supporting volunteer foster families, and to reviewing applications and going on home visits to make sure forever families and pups are a good match. It really takes a village to save the dogs who need us, and we are grateful for your help!
