The Meyer Foundation for Disabilities is dedicated to enhancing the lives of the thousands of adults with disabilities in the Omaha metro area by supporting programs that offer them recreational and social opportunities. Cooking classes, dance and swim lessons, group outings, therapeutic horse riding and reading clubs are among the many activities we help to provide. Besides offering fun, the programs we support are therapeutic, improving the physical, cognitive, social and emotional capabilities of adults with disabilities. The programs also promote inclusion of an often marginalized population and provide hours of much-needed respite, or a break, for families and caregivers.
- MFD has increased the number and amount of opportunities to have fun for adults with developmental disabilities.
- Every year, over 1,000 adults with developmental disabilities have the same opportunities to have fun just like their peers.
- Our goal is to fund permanent positions for staff so that we can expand recreational programming.
