What We Do

Merrymakers improves the quality of life for seniors by encouraging active participation, increasing social interaction, and sparking memories through professional musical entertainment. Founded by musician, Jim Johnson in 1986, Merrymakers Association contracts professional musicians who travel to almost 200 long-term nursing homes, senior facilities, assisted living, hospice houses, and the like, in Nebraska and Iowa. Merrymakers serves an often overlooked segment of the society: the parents and grandparents who make up the senior population at the facilities of whom we serve. Now in our 36th year, Merrymakers continues their mission-based performances so their shows are interactive, eliciting smiles, songs, memories, hand clapping, toe tapping and dancing from their audience.

Interesting Info
  • We serve over 50,000 seniors every year in contact hours throughout Nebraska and in western and central Iowa.
  • 100% of activity directors agree that our programs help seniors experience increased enjoyment and happiness.
  • We hope to tackle our facility waiting list which now stands at 22 homes.
