What We Do
Merrymakers improves the quality of life for seniors by encouraging active participation, increasing social interaction, and sparking memories through professional musical entertainment. Founded by musician, Jim Johnson in 1986, Merrymakers Association contracts 21 professional musicians who travel to 158 long-term nursing homes, senior facilities, assisted living, hospice houses, and the like, in Nebraska and Iowa.
Merrymakers serves an often overlooked segment of the society: the parents and grandparents who make up the senior population at the facilities of whom we serve.
Now in our 35th year, Merrymakers continues their mission-based performances so their shows are interactive, eliciting smiles, songs, memories, hand clapping, toe tapping and dancing from their audience.
