The Kamie K. Preston Hereditary Cancer Foundation is committed to saving the lives of individuals with cancer-causing hereditary genetic mutations. We are a community-centered organization working to educate and support families with hereditary cancer and the medical professionals that combat it. Since 10-15% of all cancers are caused by genetic mutations passed from parent to child, the Kamie K. Preston Hereditary Cancer Foundation pays for genetic tests denied by insurance, Medicare and Medicaid. When patients know their risk of developing a disease they can take life-saving action including; surgeries, medications, more frequent screening, etc. Chairs To Recovery is an organization in support with the Hereditary Cancer Foundation, that loans Lift Chairs to women who have had breast surgery, either due to breast cancer or to prevent breast cancer. In addition to public outreach, support, fundraising events for supporting patients with genetic testing, we also provide support baskets for individuals going through surgical procedures such as mastectomies, total hysterectomies, and other preventative and oncological treatment within our community.
- Hereditary genetic mutations can increase the risk of cancer by as much at 87%.
