The Hearts United for Animals no-kill shelter features hundreds of dogs and cats available for adoption--ones who would not have survived without our help. These precious souls were rescued from puppy mills, needed extensive surgeries to make them well, were abandoned or abused. Other programs include low cost spay/neuter, emergency medical care for dogs or cats whose owners cannot afford to save their lives, educational programs & temporary housing for pets of families fleeing domestic violence. We frequently showcase our "adoptables" at adoption events in Omaha at places such as Petsmart, Nature Dog, the Bookworm, and Nebraska Humane Society Walk for the Animals. HUA was the proud receipt of Miranda Lambert's Muttnation donation drive during her concert tours in Omaha two years in a row. Our "Proud Pets" program allows previously homeless veterans now residing at the Liberty Apartment Complex to receive free veterinary care. HUA covers the costs for vaccinations, medications, food and surgeries. This is a popular service for Omahans whose pets are their best friends in life.
