What We Do
Student members of Guided by Kids practice high level communication by learning speech/debate skills. They also choose and complete a community improvement project.
This is a free class for 5th-8th grade students who apply. We also give each student who needs one a laptop that they can use for research and other school work.
Speech and debate training gives students skills in vital critical and creative thinking skills. Students learn to research, listen, question, take notes, speak, and debate. Most importantly, they gain self-confidence and empowerment.
We want all students in the Omaha metro area to have the opportunity to practice and gain skills in an important area of education--speech and debate.
