What We Do
Gesu Housing provides hard-working, lower income families the opportunity to purchase their own home. The goal of Gesu Housing is to address poverty and neighborhood decline in North Omaha by turning renters into first-time homebuyers with an affordable mortgage payment as well as in-filling vacant lots with new three-bedroom homes.
After 18 years in this mission, Gesu Housing has determined that families of low or moderate income (80% or below of Median Family Income) can afford a $650 per month house payment (which includes principal, interest, taxes and insurance), covering a first mortgage of $68,000. We have also found that building a quality, Energy Star, long lasting house is a $200,000 per house endeavor. As a result, we are committed to finding partners willing to assist us in filling that funding gap.
