What We Do

The Friends of the Bellevue Public Library fulfill special needs of the library that are not funded by the city. We connect the community with the library by providing funds through our fundraising efforts, advocacy and volunteers as well as sponsoring community programs.

Some of our accomplishments for 2019:
Sponsorship of library programs, including the Seed Exchange and the Chinese Lion Dance;
Honoring the library staff during National Library Week by providing refreshments and gifts;
The purchase of passes for use by patrons to Lauritzen Gardens and the Omaha Children's Museum;
Building and designing a float for the Arrows to Aerospace parade in cooperation with library and the Junior Friends

Our goals for 2020 include:
Double our membership and fundraising;
Sponsor a program or guest speaker every month;
Continue to work with adult library programs and expand our involvement with the children and young adult programs;
Have a dedicated space in the library to inform patrons of our programs and activities;
Work with organizations in the community to promote the library and its programs

Interesting Info

One of our goals is to provide an electronic outdoor billboard for the library.
A billboard would engage the public and inform them about library programs and events.
Our programs include: Books for Babies; Home Bound Member Services; Community Programs; Book Buzz; Library Week; and Coffee Corner.
