What We Do
Easterseals Nebraska (ESN) provides exceptional services to help people with disabilities have an equal opportunity to live, learn, work and play. ESN's mission and vision is to change the way the world defines and views disability by making profound, positive differences in people’s lives every day.
For more than 90 years, Easterseals has been helping individuals with disabilities and special needs, and their families, live better lives. Whether helping someone improve physical mobility, return to work or simply gain greater independence for everyday living, Easterseals offers a variety of services to help people with disabilities address life's challenges and achieve personal goals.
Camp and Respite - Week-long Residential Camps for children and adults with disabilities offer a range of activities from campfire sing-a-longs and late night ghost stories, to nature walks, swimming, and arts and crafts. Easterseals Nebraska campers experience the joys and challenges of camp in a fully accessible setting. Campers gain independent and social interaction skills while participating in a variety of fun, adapted activities. Mini-Camp Respite Weekends are designed as a way to give family and/or caregivers a healthy break from the daily challenges of caring for individuals with disabilities, as well as a fun getaway for their loved ones.
Rural Solutions Nebraska AgrAbility - Provides farmers and ranchers who have sustained a disabling illness or injury with assistive technology recommendations and links to informational resources, manufacturers of specialty equipment and health care professionals to remain on the farm. Nebraska AgrAbility is a collaborative effort of the University of Nebraska Cooperative Extension and Easterseals Nebraska. The program works closely with Nebraska Vocational Rehabilitation Services and Assistive Technology Partnership.
Employment Solutions - Workforce Development Services (WFD) assists Social Security disability beneficiaries (receiving SSI/SSDI) through Work Incentives and Benefits Counseling/Post-Employment Monitoring to make informed choices about obtaining, maintaining or advancing in employment by providing benefits education, systems navigation support and by offering and guiding the strategic use of available state/federal work incentives to reach self-sufficiency. Employment services offered through Nebraska Ticket to Work include career and strengths planning, goal setting and connections to employment opportunities. All WFD services offer financial literacy and tenant education when applicable. Collaboration with Nebraska Vocational Rehabilitation, the Social Security Administration, Department of Health and Human Services and numerous community partners ensures an individual receives the most comprehensive and holistic service. WFD also provides training and technical assistance to businesses and agencies in areas related to employment for persons with disabilities.
Alternative Financing Solutions - Nebraska Alternative Financing Program provides low or reduced-interest loans to qualified Nebraskans with disabilities for the purchase of assistive technology (AT) devices and AT services. Nebraska Telework Loan Program provides low or reduced-interest loans to qualified Nebraskans with disabilities for the purchase of equipment and services necessary for securing Telework opportunities from home or other remote sites, or to overcome barriers to employment through Telework (i.e. a vehicle to commute to and from work).
