What We Do

Down Syndrome Alliance of the Midlands (DSA) benefits those touched by Down syndrome through education, advocacy and support. We serve over four hundred families across Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa. Membership is free for anyone whose life has been touched by Down syndrome.

One in 700 babies are born with Down syndrome, making it the most common chromosomal
condition.

There are more than 400,000 people living with Down syndrome in the U.S.
Life expectancy for people with Down syndrome has increased dramatically in recent decades – from 25 in 1983 to 60 today.
Quality educational programs, a stimulating home environment, good health care and positive support enable people with Down syndrome to thrive.
