DEAR Diabetes held their inaugural Gala and educational events on September 15th and 16th, 2023.

Our organization was formed to assist individuals impacted by diabetes, regardless of their diagnosis. Type 1, Type 2, MODY, Gestational. Diabetes has become an epidemic and individuals with diabetes have medical bills 2 - 3 times higher than the average person. Additionally, lower income individuals are impacted by diabetes at a higher rate.
Our goal is to educate, raise awareness, and provide resources to these individuals. Diabetes Education, Awareness, and Resources. Although we are a startup organization, practitioners and the community at large are supporting our efforts through their board participation and involvement with our inaugural luncheon and fund raiser in September. However, the need is great and support from our community is vital to the success of our mission and to the health of individuals struggling with diabetes.

- More than 10% of our population is diabetic and the numbers continue to grow each year.
- There is a gap for young adults diagnosed with diabetes with many suffering more severe symptoms than prior generations who were diagnosed later in life.
- The impact is catastrophic from limb amputations to diabetic retinopathy, kidney failure, and multiple hospitilatizations.
