The Czech and Slovak Educational Center and Cultural Museum honors the Czech and Slovak heritage and those brave individuals who came to our country to begin their new lives. Nebraska has the largest percentage of Czech and Slovak immigrants of any state in the country. Our facility has displays that depict Czech and Slovak life and values and a music room that honors Czech musicians. Guests can listen to lively polka music as they view our wall of accordions! We have a crystal room with a wide variety of crystal from Czech Republic and our Sokol room about the Sokol organization and the values of that group. We have a Bohemian Cafe room with artifacts from the beloved Bohemian Cafe Restaurant in South Omaha. We provide genealogy classes to help people research and appreciate their own family history. We conduct cooking classes where our guests learn how to prepare traditional Czech and Slovak foods. We also offer classes in traditional Czech and Slovak arts and crafts, and Czech and Slovak language classes. In our Education Room, we share a variety of cultural aspects of Czech and Slovak life. One month we will showcase the works of a beloved artist, the next month we may feature a traveling display on loan from the National Czech and Slovak Museum. One thing for sure is that there's always something new and exciting on display! We hope you will "Czech" us out soon!
