Christ Child Society of Omaha is lifting up families in need and providing encouragement across the heartland. We are changing the trajectory of lives by providing hope, education, and support to young, underserved families.
Christ Child Omaha was founded in 1906 as one of the first chapters of the National Christ Child Society, today comprised of 44 chapters. The hallmark service of every chapter is providing layettes (diaper bags filled with newborn essentials) to mothers in need. Christ Child Omaha distributes 2200 layettes annually through various agencies, schools, and non-profits.
The Omaha chapter also distributes 150 high-quality car seats to new and expectant mothers and their infants each year.
Our literacy program, in partnership with Unite for Literacy, distributes over 6,000 books annually through our layette bags. These books can be narrated in over 100 different languages, making them accessible to families from diverse linguistic backgrounds.
In addition, Christ Child Omaha funds and distributes significant ($5000 and $2500), renewable scholarships to single mothers in need to help with post-secondary education. We partner with agencies and schools that provide the support systems for these mothers to be successful while we provide the funding of the scholarships. For the 2023-24 school year, 43 women are helped by nearly $200,000 in scholarships.
- The Christ Child Society is alive and kicking in Omaha! We've been packing layettes since 1906. We are one of the oldest chapters in the country!
- The talented sewers in our group lovingly sew baby blankets, ensuring that each layette includes a special, personal touch.
- More than $250,000 in scholarships is awarded annually. Your generous donations help us maximize our impact, supporting both parents and their children.
