Hello! The Blue Bucket Project (BBP) provides equipment, (litter kits) resources (litter facts) and opportunity (Flash Trash Mobs most seasonal weekends) for reducing litter in our communities. The Blue Bucket litter pick up starter kits (a 5 gal bucket, bags, grabber tool, gloves, safety vest) get you started. Flash Trash Mobs (60 min of intense litter gathering) are fun community engaging events! Use your litter kit in your neighborhood, at Flash Trash Mobs, or keep one in your car! We have also started organizing Mini-Midweek Flash Trash Mobs during a weekday for those who aren't able to participate on weekends. Watch for the Pop Up Pick Ups (PUx2) appearing around town. Follow where they will be on FB or Instagram or our website. Make a difference! See the difference! The single most helpful way to mitigate litter is for people seeing others helping pick up litter.
- People notice more environmentally conscious individuals and families out picking up litter since we've provided over 600 litter kits starting March 2021.
- We've grown almost 5x's over the last year compared to 2022 with events, supporting other groups, and Flash Mobs.
- Our goal: Engaging communities in the Omaha area to reduced litter by providing supplies, education and opportunity.
