What We Do

Bemis Center serves as a laboratory for artists from around the world to research, experiment, and take creative risks free from expectation. Equally as important, it’s a place where creativity and our community come together. Through exhibitions of artwork in all media by local, national, and international artists and educational programs—both always free and open to the public—we share artists’ unique perspectives and build awareness around the international contemporary art dialogue. As a result, Bemis plays a visionary role in keeping Omaha flourishing with a constant infusion of new artists and ideas into our city.

Interesting Info

Bemis Center is Nebraska’s first and only institution strictly focused on the production and presentation of contemporary art on an international scale.
Approximately 900 artists from around the world have participated in the residency and exhibition programs.
Our vision is to inspire an open and diverse dialogue on the critical issues that give shape and meaning to the human condition.
