SHARE Omaha is part of a network of local SHARE organizations across the country working to elevate philanthropy.

Q: What geographic area does SHARE Iowa cover?

A: It serves nine Iowa counties including: Cass, Fremont, Harrison, Mills, Monona, Montgomery, Page, Pottawattamie and Shelby.

Q: Why are there two SHARE organizations when the Omaha metro and Council Bluffs are served by some of the same nonprofits?

A: Both SHARE Omaha and SHARE Iowa serve cross-river organizations and neighbors in the primary Omaha/Council Bluffs metro. Additionally, there are many nonprofits in rural Western Iowa who have distinct constituents with donor and volunteer needs. SHARE Iowa allows Iowans across a nine county area to search hyper-local opportunities for generosity, in their own backyard.

Q: Are SHARE Omaha and SHARE Iowa connected?

A: Both organizations are partnering to promote special events like Giving Tuesday across the shared metro news media. Each SHARE organization will also support the specific geographic areas, tell the stories from each of their geographic perspectives, seek support for their organization and promote their missions through their respective websites. SHARE Omaha and SHARE Iowa are sister organizations, each a part of the Share Good network.

Q: Why are there two organizations just across the bridge from each other?

A: There are two organizations because two different states are involved, because each organization can tap into new sources to support nonprofits that are unique to their areas and because encouraging philanthropy across a broader geography will help fulfil the missions of more organizations.

Q: Where do SHARE Omaha and SHARE Iowa get their operational funding?

A: SHARE Omaha and SHARE Iowa are supported by the philanthropy of individuals, businesses, foundations and other private sources. They do not keep any portion of the donations raised through their website portals and they do not charge nonprofits to have a profile on their websites. SHARE Omaha is a 501c3 nonprofit.
