Role Overview:

As a  Volunteer Grant Writer, you'll play a crucial role in researching grant opportunities, crafting compelling proposals, and building relationships with potential funders. This HYBRID position offers the flexibility to work remotely for research and writing tasks, while also providing opportunities for on-site engagement at our shelter to gather stories and firsthand experiences.

Responsibilities:

  1. Grant Research: Utilize your research skills to identify potential grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies that align with our shelter's mission and programs.
  2. Proposal Writing : Craft well-written and persuasive grant proposals that effectively communicate our organization's impact, programs, and funding needs to potential funders.
  3. On-Site Engagement: Visit our shelter to interact with animals, staff, and volunteers, gathering compelling stories and information to enhance grant proposals.
  4. Grant Reporting: Assist in preparing grant reports and updates for funders, highlighting program outcomes and demonstrating the impact of their support.
  5. Relationship Building: Foster positive relationships with grantmakers and funders through regular communication and updates on our shelter's activities, achievements, and challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Strong writing skills with the ability to craft persuasive grant proposals and reports.
  • Excellent research abilities to identify suitable grant opportunities.
  • Passion for animal welfare and a commitment to our shelter's mission.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, meeting deadlines effectively.
