Volunteer Opportunity:
Hospitality/Petting Zoo Helper - Sundays

This position is meant for times the ranch comes alive with guests, volunteers, staff and youth. You will be the first point of contact when guests enter the ranch. Your main responsibilities will include collecting admission fees, having guests sign in, and reminding them of the number one rule. You will not be left alone with the ranch, and there will always be someone with a card reader available.
There are times when the stream of visitors is steady and having someone who's solely greeting guests is essential. There are other times when it is slower, so be prepared to fill in as a ranch hand that might include some of the following duties:

Ready with a smile and a love for sharing the ranch.
Drive lawnmower for wagon rides for kids
Help set up party area for events
Cleanup of picnic grounds
Help answer questions for guests about animals and the ranch
Able to work in all weather conditions
Team player; able to work well with a variety of people
Previous farm or work experience at animal care facility helpful
Help with these items if petting zoo is slow
Cleaning large animal and small animal shelter housing barns. Barn cleaners are assigned daily cleaning responsibilities for a full, 8 hour daily work shift day. Cleaning procedures include:
Raking out all bedding straw/shavings in barns
Scrubbing perches, nestboxes, feed & water pallets
Scrubbing walls & gates
Cobweb dusting barns
Cleaning nursery/rabbit barn walls and flooring
Spreading old bedding on pastures
Assisting with farm maintenance as needed
Gardening
Building
Animal care
Helping with guests
Art project
