Foster Grandparents assist children in schools, Head Start Programs, hospitals, and child development centers. They are positive role models and mentors to disadvantaged youth and children with academic, social, or emotional needs. Volunteers must be at least age 55, meet an income guideline, and be able to serve a minimum of 10 hours per week. All applicants must complete an enrollment process including references and background checks. Benefits: In return for their commitment of 10 hours per week, volunteers receive a tax free stipend of $4.00 per hour, plus mileage reimbursement, a meal while serving, and other benefits.
