Volunteer Opportunity: Event Director

Are you a highly organized, detail-oriented individual who thrives in event planning? Join Femi’s Heart Mission as an Event Director Volunteer and help coordinate impactful events that support our mission locally in Omaha, internationally in Africa, and soon in Canada.

Femi’s Heart Mission is committed to providing resources, advocacy, and support to underserved communities, focusing on health, education, and critical care services. Through fundraising events, community outreach, and global initiatives, we create meaningful change for those in need.

This volunteer opportunity offers real-world experience in high-level event coordination, making it ideal for individuals looking to develop or expand their expertise in nonprofit event planning.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning and execution of all organizational events, ensuring alignment with Femi’s Heart Mission’s goals.
  • Work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure proper staffing and support for all events.
  • Organize logistics for the Gramercy Gala, our premier annual fundraising event, including vendor coordination, sponsorship outreach, and program development.
  • Create marketing materials (flyers, social media posts, event programs) to promote events and engage the community.
  • Maintain event timelines, coordinate communications, and oversee event marketing efforts.
  • Assist with fundraising efforts related to event sponsorships, ticket sales, and donation drives.
  • Attend quarterly board meetings to provide updates on event planning and progress.

Commitment & Expectations:

  • Time Commitment: Minimum 10 hours per month (varies based on event schedule).
  • Meetings:
    • Monthly planning meetings for the Gramercy Gala.
    • Twice-weekly meetings as we approach the event.
    • Weekly meetings in the final month leading up to the Gramercy Gala (September).
    • Quarterly Board Meetings: Required attendance to provide event updates.

  • Collaboration: Regular coordination with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure event staffing and logistical alignment.
  • Marketing: Develop promotional materials and manage event marketing strategies.
  • Remote & In-Person: Most planning can be done remotely, but in-person presence may be needed for key events.

  • February 9: African Wellbeing & Mental Health Awareness Workshop
  • February 16: Texas Roadhouse Fundraising Event
  • March 14: CPR Classes
  • March 29: Femi’s Heart Blood Drive
  • May 18: Volunteer at Carolyn Scott Rainbow House
  • July 5, 12, 19, 26: Sibling Support Workshop
  • August 3: Backpack Drive
  • August 24: Texas Roadhouse Fundraising Event
  • August 30: Femi’s Heart Blood Drive
  • September 12: CPR Classes
  • September 14: Gramercy Gala
  • November 8: African Mental Health Awareness Workshop
  • December 14: FB4Kids Event
