We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Volunteer Community Garden Coordinator to lead our community garden initiative, designed to create a welcoming and supportive environment for our Ukrainian refugee neighbors. This role involves organizing garden activities, fostering a sense of community, and ensuring the garden remains a vibrant and accessible space for all participants.
It's okay if you're not a garden expert, we have one of those to help guide the project. We're looking for someone to coordinate the work!
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize and Lead Garden Activities: Under the guidance of our master gardener, plan and oversee garden planting, maintenance, and harvesting activities. Coordinate volunteer schedules and tasks.
- Foster Community Engagement: Build relationships with Ukrainian refugees and other community members. Facilitate cultural exchange and community-building events.
- Provide Support and Guidance: Offer gardening advice and hands-on assistance to new gardeners. Ensure that the garden is an inclusive and supportive environment.
- Manage Resources: Oversee garden supplies and tools. Manage inventory and ensure the garden is well-maintained.
- Promote the Garden: Advocate for the garden within the community, encouraging participation and raising awareness of its benefits.
Qualifications:
- Passion for community building and gardening.
- Experience in gardening or related activities is a plus, but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Cultural sensitivity and openness to working with diverse populations.
