The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Omaha is a direct-aid organization, supporting those most in need in our community through spirituality, friendship and service. Our ultimate goal is to prevent families and individuals experiencing a financial crisis from falling into homelessness. To this end, we offer emergency financial assistance to help our neighbors in need pay for rent, utilities and transportation. We also provide a very large, free food pantry at 2101 Leavenworth Street. Our four local thrift stores provide clothing and other items at deeply discounted prices to help families make ends meet. Our Holy Family Ministries – located at our main facility at 1715 Izard Street – provide daily sack lunches and free clothing and other basic care items to homeless and near-homeless families and individuals. We also contribute countless volunteer hours and financial and in-kind disaster relief assistance. Established in Omaha in 1868, the Society is a 501(c)(3), non-profit charitable organization and is part of an international organization linked by the common mission of our patron - St. Vincent de Paul.
