What We Do

Nebraska Wildlife Rehab has a two-fold mission: to rescue, rehabilitate and return to the wild native wildlife and migratory birds and to educate people about the importance of wildlife and our native ecosystems. We care for 6,000-7,000 wild animals and help more than 15,000 community members with wildlife inquiries each year. We provide after-school programming in eight middle schools and two elementary schools, offer 21 internships for university students, sponsor our own High School Science Academy, and provide dozens of additional programs about wildlife each year.

Interesting Info

  • We reach over 25,000 people each year with wildlife education - in-person, by telephone, and online.
  • NWR is one of the largest bat rehabilitation centers in the United States and hosts a one-of-a-kind public bat release each spring.
