What We Do

JDRF works to improve lives today and tomorrow by accelerating life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat type 1 diabetes (T1D) and its complications. As the leading global organization funding T1D research, JDRF works every day to change the reality of this disease for millions of people by funding research, advocating for government support of research and new therapies, ensuring new therapies come to market and connecting and engaging the T1D community.

Interesting Info
  • In 2020, JDRF launched T1Detect, a screening program for type 1 diabetes (T1D) autoantibodies.
  • In 2021, following a campaign by JDRF and our supporters, U.S. Congress renewed the Special Diabetes Program which provides $150 million to T1D research.
  • We offer many outreach programs and services, including a volunteer mentor program, library of resources, and events for education and connection.
