Event:
Women Defining History Luncheon and Runway Show
Join us as we present our tenth annual Women Defining History Luncheon and Runway Show on Saturday, April 23, 2021 at the Field Club of Omaha. Each year this event honors a local woman who inspires, challenges, and serves as a model to strengthen our community through philanthropic outreach, historic preservation, or courageous efforts with our Women Defining History Award. We are delighted to announce the 2021 Women Defining History Award honoree will be Mona Christensen. Mona sipped her first cup of tea on the Iowa farm where she grew up and has been sharing it and extolling its virtues for much of her adult life. Mona has organized teas and taught tea classes for non-profit groups throughout the Midwest, including holding tea service at the General Crook House for over twenty years. Our mission here at DCHS is to invite the people of Omaha to celebrate their local history and learn more about their home. Our annual vintage runway show is one way we connect with our community and bring history to life in a fun and unique way. This year, we will look back to the Omaha of the 1920s, showcasing the Grace and Simplicity of the Jazz Age, one hundred years later. Proceeds from the event will help support artifact preservation.
