Omaha Girls Rock

Volunteer Opportunity:
Headliner Camp Volunteer - No music experience required!
I'm Interested!

Omaha Girls Rock (OGR) is a spunky arts non-profit community organization dedicated to fostering creativity and self-empowerment through musical instruction, expression, and community building.

Our week-long day camp allows campers to attend instrument instruction, form bands, and write an original song. At the end of camp, bands perform their original songs at our showcase, an event that is open to the public! Our summer programming offers girls, trans, and gender expansive youth an opportunity to gain technical and musical skills that enable them to express their ideas with the support of a community that values their unique perspective. At Omaha Girls Rock, we use our voices and our art towards our own liberation.

We offer four different camps throughout the summer and are looking for band mentors, instrument instructors, band coaches, workshop leaders, arts and crafts enthusiasts, gear haulers, recess supervisors, and anyone who is passionate about youth empowerment. Previous musical experience is not required!

We are a proud member of the international Girls Rock Camp Alliance. The Girls Rock movement formed as a response to the exclusion gender marginalized people have experienced in music spaces historically and still face today. We use the historical impact of women, and of artists and leaders from oppressed communities, diverse musical genres, and popular music to learn, reflect, react and act.

Volunteers are the backbone of our organization! We value any time that people have to volunteer, whether it is a couple hours or the full week of camp. Omaha Girls Rock values diversity of age, race, economic status, gender expression, size, physical ability, developmental ability, musical interests, learning styles, nationality, religion, thought, citizenship status, and sexual orientation. We promote respect and do not tolerate racism, sexism, homophobia, or other discriminatory behavior or expression. Omaha Girls Rock welcomes individuals who self-identify as female, trans, and/or gender expansive to apply for direct volunteer positions at camp. Cis male allies are welcome to join us in behind the scenes volunteer roles.
