Voices for Children in Nebraska

Summary: Voices for Children in Nebraska hosts our annual event in the fall. We need energetic, spirited and motivated individuals to volunteer on the committee to assist with planning in order to have a highly successful event! Below is the "job" description for members of the committee. Length of Involvement: January – Event Date (usually October or November) 1-hour meetings monthly; debrief meeting in December. Time Commitment: Approximately 2-3 hours per month, including meetings. Committee Objective: Overall execution of the VFC Annual event. This could include sponsorships, auction, event logistics, and fundraising to hit event goal. Descriptions of the responsibilities involved in each are as follows: SPONSORSHIP: Assist in developing plans for soliciting individual, corporate and in-kind sponsors for the event. • Assist in developing a comprehensive list of potential sponsorship opportunities and in-kind needs. • Solicit individuals and businesses to establish sponsorship relationships. • Ensure that all donors, underwriters and sponsors receive proper recognition before, during and after the event (including signage, event promotion, programs, etc.) AUCTION: Assist in securing donated items that will be sold via a live and/or silent auction and any other games at the event. • Develop a list of potential auction items and donors. • Solicit donations. • Work with Fund Development & Marketing Manager for night of support (set up, spotters and help with check out) • Determine (with the guidance of the auctioneer) the order that the live items will be auctioned. • Arrange for pick-up and delivery of all auction items. ENTERTAINMENT & DÉCOR: Part of helping our guests feel special is to create a beautiful and entertaining environment. • Determine which decorations are needed based on our theme. • Coordinate table settings, place cards, centerpieces, etc. • Help the Fund Development & Marketing Manager select the entertainment, the emcee, the guest speaker and the auctioneer. • Work with the photographer, photo booth, musical entertainment, and potentially the lighting, AV and sound crews. VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT & COORDINATION: Our event could not be successful without an amazing group of volunteers. In coordination with the Fund Development & Marketing Manager we need individuals who are great at working with and motivating people, solving problems and generally helping people feel they are part of the team. We want to have fun as we put on a terrific event, so positivity and problem-solving mindset are a must!
