*Flexible Times* General Hope Lodge volunteers may assist in a variety of ways, coordinating activities for guests, light housekeeping, gardening and more. Volunteer opportunities are flexible may be driven by volunteer group interest areas and specific needs of the American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge Nebraska. Join us and help brighten the day of cancer patients! - Day of service – i.e. cleaning the lodge, painting, landscaping - Group clean-up on weekend – give the lodge a real “spring cleaning – i.e. washing windows on ground level, fall and spring clean-up, deep cleaning of guest communal areas - Prepare dinner for guests (best on a weeknight) – i.e. pasta night, barbeque, soup night - Provide an ice cream social, dessert bar, mocktail night for guests - Event support – help with Relay For Life at a lodge, decorate for various holidays or seasons throughout the year - Organize musical entertainment – i.e. choirs singing, string quartets, harpists, drum circles - Host a movie night – bring a “feel good” movie with popcorn, candy and soft drinks for a fun afternoon/evening at the movies - Host a game night – bring board games, large group games (BINGO is wildly popular) and prizes - Host a craft night – scrapbooking, knitting, crocheting, seasonal crafts, painting, whatever talent you have in crafting, bring it to the lodge! - Provide a cooking class – is someone in your group a chef? Consider having them teach a simple cooking class to guests. - Teach a journal/poetry/story writing class – are you great with words? Help our guests write their thoughts on paper. - Host a talent night – plan a night of Hope Lodge Idol, bring a karaoke machine, and see what talents our guests have to offer! - Teach a yoga class - Provide “goodie bags” for guests – assemble bags of needed items – some fun, some necessary – for helping our guests feel at home with at Hope Lodge. - Fulfill a need on the “wish list” – Hope Lodge has a wish list of items that are needed such as plastic baggies, paper products, detergents, etc.
