At Ease USA

Event:
Silent Salute to Freedom Fireworks

At Ease USA is planning a July 3rd silent salute dedicated to honoring our military families.  The event will take place at A View at Westshores that offers a clear view of the fireworks, but with a twist. Instead of amplifying the typical sounds associated with fireworks, AEU will have a DJ playing music to create an atmosphere where veterans can relax and enjoy the festivities without the triggering effects of loud explosions. Our goal is to provide a safe and enjoyable environment where veterans and their families can come together to celebrate, connect, and create positive memories.

Our July 3rd salute will feature a variety of activities aimed at bringing joy to our veterans and their families. From carnival games, casino games, art activities and mocktails to classic favorites like hot dogs and hamburgers, there will be something for everyone to enjoy. We'll even have a bounce house for the kids, adding to the festive atmosphere.

The decision to host this event stems from our deep concern for veterans who are affected by the sights, sounds, and odors of fireworks. Many veterans experience significant distress, including flashbacks and nightmares, as a result of these triggers. Recognizing this, our organization has been proactive in addressing this issue. Six years ago, our former Board president, Jim Dale, publicly supported Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert’s efforts to implement changes aimed at mitigating the impact of fireworks on our veteran community. This event is a continuation of our commitment to supporting our veterans and ensuring they have access to resources and experiences that promote their well-being.  If you are a military family, please join us on July 3rd.  Participants must register.
