Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arrangement. It goes beyond the simple act of placing flowers in a container; instead, it is a disciplined art form in which the arrangement is considered a living entity, seamlessly merging nature and humanity. Ikebana is deeply rooted in the philosophy of fostering a profound connection with nature. The materials used in ikebana compositions include leaves, grasses, flowers, blossoms, and living branches.  

Ikebana International is a not-for-profit cultural organization founded in Tokyo, Japan in 1956, with the mission of "friendship through flowers." It is dedicated to the promotion and appreciation of Ikebana, the art of Japanese flower arrangement. The organization is active in over 50 countries with 161 chapters and approximately 7,600 members.  

The Omaha chapter, #60, was founded in 1962 and, like Ikebana International, represents a community of individuals who appreciate and delve into the art of flower arrangement beyond specific styles. Presently there are two locations available for meetings and learning opportunities in Nebraska: Lincoln and Omaha.  

Held annually, this Ikebana exhibition features arrangements from both classical and contemporary schools of Ikebana. Members of Ikebana International Omaha #60 will be present during show hours to meet guests and answer questions about the art of Ikebana. Admission is included with paid garden admission of $15+tax/adults, $9+tax/children 3 to 12 and FREE for garden members and children under three.
